Franz Xaver Aicher is a German visual artist working between abstraction, landscape, and photographic reduction.
Rooted in long-term explorations of water, ice, desert, and alpine environments, his practice investigates transient states of light, structure, and perception. The works move beyond documentary representation, approaching landscape as an elemental condition rather than a fixed geography.
Often created in remote or physically demanding environments, his images examine the instability of form through reduction, scale, and material presence — oscillating between stillness and movement, surface and depth.
Central to his practice is the ongoing body of work ÆTERNA, an exploration of water as both substance and metaphor: reflective, unstable, and in constant transformation.
He lives and works in the Bavarian Alps.
